More than 300 voters in Cumberland County took a look at the choices for president in the 2024 election and concluded “none of the above.”
In this, they joined nearly 19,000 people statewide who participated in that time-honored tradition of just writing someone in for president — someone with no chance of winning the famous protest vote.
If I retain all my faculties, I will not ever be doing such a thing when it comes to choosing the leader of the free world. That’s just me. But I am always interested in who gets written in.
The election in Cumberland is over — almost
The Cumberland County Board of Elections concluded its official tally — the canvass — for the Nov. 5 election around 4:30 p.m. in a meeting Monday at elections headquarters on Fountainhead Lane in downtown Fayetteville. That means the election is over — almost.
In the county, 140,941 total votes were tallied between early voting and Election Day, absentee ballots and provisional ballots.
