A Fayetteville man was arrested Tuesday in the kidnapping and fatal shooting last month of Jonathan Eastman, a news release said.
Devante Kendrick Greenway, 26, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Eastman , 37, of Fayetteville, on Oct. 26. Court records show Greenway is also charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
According to the charging document, Greenway kidnapped the victim “for the purpose of terrorizing Jonathan Eastman,” before killing him.
The Fayetteville Police Department said the shooting was reported about 10 p.m. in the 2000 block of Cowan Street. Eastman was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.
Greenway was booked into the Cumberland County jail at 4:18 p.m. on Tuesday, according to jail records.
