Christmas Eve fight breaks out at Target in North Carolina

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — “Numerous” people were detained by Fayetteville police Christmas Eve after a fight broke out at a Target store on Skibo Road, police said.

The incident was reported just after 6 p.m. at the Target at 2056 Skibo Road, according to a statement from the Fayetteville Police Department.

A witness told CBS 17 that a fight between two people had begun inside the store.

At some point someone yelled “gun,” which triggered a panic in the store, the witness said.

The Fayetteville Police Department said no gunshots were fired during the incident involving two males.

Police chased the duo from the Target store, according to officers at the scene.

No one was injured, police said.

“Officers have numerous individuals detained as the investigation continues,” Fayetteville Police Capt. Shawn Strepay told CBS 17 at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

No arrests have been made in the incident which police categorized as an assault.
