A serious crash occurred Tuesday morning in Sampson County killing two people and sending two others to the hospital including a 3-year-old.
It happened on Highway 55 and Oak Grove Church Road shortly after 7 a.m.
A preliminary investigation by North Carolina State Highway Patrol found a Honda Accord was going east on NC 55 when it crossed the center line and hit a Kia Sorento that was going west.
Both drivers were found dead when troopers arrived at the scene.
The Honda driver was identified as Eric Scott Little, 30, of Coats. The Kia driver was identified as Lauren Brittany Knuckles, 31, of Dudley.
Ashley Morgan Walker, 30, of Coats, who was in the Honda, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was taken to WakeMed with serious injuries.
The 3-year-old, identified as Maddison Faith Knuckles of Dudley, was in the other vehicle and was taken to WakeMed by helicopter.
