St. Pauls boys 4×100, Fairmont’s McKinnon, Red Springs’ Washington win at 2A track regionals

ROCKY POINT — The St. Pauls 4×100 relay team, Fairmont hurdles runner Malachi McKinnon and Red Springs shot put thrower Monica Washington each won individual titles Friday at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s 2A Mideast Regional, held at Heide Trask.

In addition to those winners, the 4×400 relay team from St. Pauls and the 4×200 boys relay teams from St. Pauls and Red Springs all qualified for the state championship as one of the top-four finishers in those events. States will be held next Saturday at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.

The St. Pauls 4×100 team of Quintell McNeill, Yoshua McBryde, Malachi Locklear and Tykeem Oxendine won the regional title in 43.49 seconds, 0.83 seconds ahead of runners-up Southeast Alamance. Red Springs ran a 45.20 with a relay team including Jakesin Mack and T.J. Ellerbe…
