Communities in the Fayetteville area are preparing to honor fallen service members this Memorial Day with a series of ceremonies, 5Ks and remembrance events scheduled throughout the holiday weekend.
Fort Bragg Run, Honor, Remember 5K
Fort Bragg’s Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation hosts its annual Run, Honor, Remember 5K at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, May 17, at Hedrick Stadium,1500 Howell St. The free event is open to Department of Defense cardholders and their guests, with no registration required.
Memorial Day Spectacular
Haymount United Methodist Church hosts the Prelude to Memorial Day Spectacular concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at 1700 Fort Bragg Road in Fayetteville. The concert features organist Wes Lockfaw, a brass quintet, choir and vocalists.
