New I-295 bridge opening this weekend in Fayetteville will change traffic pattern

A new bridge along Strickland Bridge Road in western Fayetteville is expected to open this weekend, according to a news release from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The bridge opening set for May 31 is a milestone in the ongoing construction of Interstate 295, also known as the Fayetteville Outer Loop. The bridge is part of a future interchange with I-295.

The bridge is part of a $151.8 million contract awarded in 2022 to construct the final five-mile segment of I-295 between Camden and Raeford roads. The full segment is scheduled to be completed by summer 2026…
