VANDER, N.C. (WNCN) — While responding to a fire call on Halibut Street Wednesday afternoon, a firefighter was injured after falling 21 feet to the ground.
According to Vander Fire Chief Richard Bradshaw, the fall happened at a house on Halibut Street when the Vander Fire Department was called after lightning struck the house.
Chief Bradshaw said that when teams arrived, crews began an investigation of the home when a strong odor was smelled. The teams began to investigate the attic, where they found a fire had started. Chief Bradshaw said the firefighter fell during the process of fighting the fire…
