BROADWAY, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Transportation Safety Board provided a report Friday after their June investigation of an aircraft that crashed into a boat dealership near Harnett County.
According to NTSB’s preliminary findings, the Aviat Pitts S-2B aircraft was believed to be conducting a training exercise from the Raleigh Executive Jetport in Sanford. Two men, identified as pilot Anton Vandeth and passenger Dwight Frye, died as a result of the crash.
The latest NTSB report said the plane departed at 8:53 a.m. June 20, from the small airport, and made a couple of left turns before going as high as 4,100 feet. The report said the plane made a tight 360-degree left turn and continued its course…
