After allegedly fleeing from Aberdeen Police officers at a high rate of speed on a motorcycle on June 17, a 32-year-old Southern Pines man was arrested days later and is facing charges of felony flee to elude with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor reckless driving-wanton regard, reckless driving to endanger, speeding, aggressive driving, improper passing, and a center lane violation.
The case began when officers saw a motorcycle allegedly driving erratically while traveling north on U.S. 1 near Elm Street.
“An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the motorcycle accelerated at a high rate of speed and continued north on US-1, committing several driving and traffic violations,” said the Aberdeen Police Department in a news advisory on July 9. “Aberdeen officers began to give chase but due to safety concerns, officers discontinued the pursuit.”…
