Former Raleigh Police Sergeant Resigned After Knife Threat Arrest in Dunn

DUNN, N.C. – A Raleigh police sergeant resigned on Monday, July 7, just days after he was arrested for allegedly threatening a disabled man with a knife during a disturbing altercation at a Dunn restaurant.

Wesley Adam Lane, 37, of Mount Olive, had served with the Raleigh Police Department since 2010. His resignation came less than a week after Dunn Police charged him with assault on an individual with a disability and communicating threats, both misdemeanors.

Alleged Knife Threat at Western Sizzlin’

The incident took place on June 25 at the Western Sizzlin’ Steakhouse in Dunn. According to court documents and police reports, Lane allegedly approached another man’s table, picked up a knife, and threatened to “cut [the victim’s] throat,” accusing the man of touching his daughter…
