Two candidates arise during Roseboro’s filing extension

ROSEBORO — The town of Roseboro’s extended filing period for what would be a vacant commissioner seat in November has drawn two candidates — both with deep ties to the community but distinct visions for its future.

Bridgette Henry, a longtime educator and Roseboro native, and Gilbert Owens, a retired banking executive with decades of professional experience, officially entered the race, each bringing personal history and community perspective to the campaign.

Henry, a math teacher at Lakewood High School starting her 29th year there — and her 30th in teaching — said her connection to the town began long before her career in education…
