3 arrested, including man shot, after Hoke County robbery leads to shooting, deputies say

RAEFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — Three people — including the man hurt — were arrested after a robbery led to a shooting in Hoke County last month, deputies said Monday.

According to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office, a larceny was reported on July 29 around 9 a.m. in the 4500 block of Fayetteville Road. An investigation determined a man robbed two juveniles and the juveniles were trying to find their stolen belongings.

While still investigating the robbery, according to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a shooting about a mile and a half away in the 100 block of Little Leaf Court. They found a man with a gunshot wound, who was later identified as 25-year-old John Smith Jr. Due to the seriousness of his injury, he was airlifted to a regional medical facility…
