County resident finds resolution with town of Roseboro

Roseboro commissioners have cleared a path for Willie Hill, a county resident living just outside town limits, to receive water and sewer services needed to rebuild his home after contaminated well water halted the process. The board’s unanimous decision during a special meeting on Monday, Aug. 18, allows Hill to seek annexation to the town within six months and further his progress.

Mayor Alice Butler said the board acted quickly once the necessary easement was recorded, allowing utility work to move forward without waiting on the lengthier annexation process.

“The main purpose of our special meeting on Monday was to revisit the request for annexation from 406 Douglas Avenue and 409 Johnson Street,” Butler explained. “Mr. Hill needs water and sewer services in order to rebuild. Once the easement across his brother’s property was signed and recorded, that cleared the way for the sewer tap. The water tap will go on the front of his property. After that was in place, the town board voted to provide services contingent upon annexation.”…
