FAYETTEVILLE — The Lumberton girls tennis team opened Tri-County Conference play with a hard-fought 5-4 win over Cape Fear Wednesday.
Both teams won three matches in singles; Lumberton (4-0, 1-0 TCC) then won two of the three doubles matches to earn the overall win over Cape Fear (2-1, 0-1 TCC)
Lumberton’s Josie Lawson/Olivia McLamb paired up to beat the Colts’ Hailey Ross/Alissa Fulghum 8-2 and the Pirates’ Tori Sanchez/Lameshea Love defeated Emma Stephens/Hailey Hall 8-5. Cape Fear got a doubles win from Dani Fick/Ezra Pajarilla, who beat Charley Whitley/Mackenzie Register 8-5…
