State trooper shot at during attempted traffic stop in Fayetteville

A North Carolina state trooper came under gunfire on Tuesday night during an attempted traffic stop in Fayetteville.

The trooper was not hit, but the Highway Patrol vehicle was riddled with bullets.

It unfolded when the trooper tried to stop a speeding vehicle on I-295, and someone in the car fired several gunshots, hitting the patrol vehicle, including the front bumper and the tires. The driver sped away.

The incident then spilled over to McArthur Road, where the trooper’s vehicle became disabled…
