ST. PAULS — Conferences and classifications change, but the Red Springs-St. Pauls series remains.
The rivals will play for the 70th consecutive season on Friday, with a 7 p.m. kickoff scheduled at St. Pauls’ G.S. Kinlaw Stadium. It is the 73rd overall meeting, but after North Carolina High School Athletic Association realignment, it is the first time since 2000 that the matchup is not a conference game.
“It doesn’t make it different at all (being a nonconference game),” St. Pauls coach Mike Setzer said. “It’s Red Springs, it is what it is. Respectfully, we’re not overlooking them at all, and we’re going to prepare to beat them just as much as we prepare to beat anybody else.”…
