A new J. Cole mural near Fayetteville State is part of an NC project | Opinion

If you’ve been driving near Fayetteville State University on Murchison Road lately and done a double-take, yes, that is J. Cole’s face you see on the side of a building across the street from the university.

Artist Scott Nurkin is spray-painting a mural of the rapper, whose full name is Jermaine Cole, who hails from Fayetteville and is an international star and founder of the annual Dreamville musical festival in the Triangle. Nurkin’s Cole painting is part of a statewide project in which he paints large murals of significant musical artists in their hometowns.
