3 juveniles arrested after armed robbery in Red Springs

RED SPRINGS — Three juvenile suspects are in custody following an armed robbery that occurred in Red Springs.

On Aug. 21, Red Springs Police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the 200 block of East Fourth Avenue. The initial report revealed that two unknown male suspects threatened store employees and customers with a handgun. The suspects demanded money and also took over $3,000 worth of merchandise from the shelves. No one was injured during the armed robbery. Officers acted swiftly, deploying resources to the crime scene and the surrounding area which led to the recovery of the gun used during the crime.

Red Springs Police investigators were able to review surveillance footage that revealed a third suspect in the armed robbery acting as a lookout. The suspects were recognized by Investigators from video surveillance footage from a shoplifting incident that took place just days prior. After identifying all the juvenile suspects, investigators swore out the juvenile petitions and secured custody orders. With the assistance of Raeford Police Department, Hoke County Schools and Public Schools of Robeson County, investigators were able to place the three juvenile suspects into custody without incident. The juveniles are being held at the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting their first appearance…
