The Vass Police Department held a late-night checkpoint along U.S. 1 on Friday, resulting in dozens of citations and several arrests.
Officers set up under the North Alma Street overpass, monitoring both northbound and southbound traffic from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit, better known as the BAT Mobile, was on scene to help process anyone taken into custody.
