RED SPRINGS — Two individuals have been charged with multiple crimes after discharging a firearm on Friday night outside a Red Springs nightclub.
On Friday evening, officers from the Red Springs Police Department were parked in the parking lot of 114 S. Main Street, Truth Bar and Lounge, providing security as the business was closing. Other officers were patrolling around the business. Officers observed a male subject discharging a rifle into the air and shooting multiple times. The person then got into a white Chrysler 300 and proceeded to leave the scene.
Officers immediately followed the white Chrysler and conducted a vehicle stop. Officers ordered the subjects out of the vehicle and were detained until further investigation. Stephen Chavis, the driver of the vehicle, and Quah-May Haywood were the occupants identified in the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and located a loaded AK-47 in the front and two loaded handguns in the rear of the vehicle. It was determined that both occupants discharged multiple weapons into the air…
