Make it a Double
They like their espresso how they like their trouble: double. Meet Maggie Correll and Erin Strindt, the owners of Double Trouble Coffee Co. The coffee trailer celebrates its one year anniversary this Friday. Double Trouble regularly sets up in the Legacy Lakes neighborhood in Aberdeen, the Burn Boot Camp in Fayetteville and other various pop-ups in and around the area.
Maggie and Erin initially met while working at a country club in Chapel Hill where members called them “double trouble,” when they were on shift together. Years later, when they decided to start brewing their own business, the name stuck.
They source their beans from Dynamite Roasting Co., whose story is also not your average joe’s. Maggie and Erin went on a hunt for the right beans and they wanted to go with a company that fit their vibe. When they got their first whiff of Dynamite’s beans they knew those were the ones. But this was right before Hurricane Helene hit and the company is located in Black Mountain.
After the flooding, Erin and Maggie were worried the company was shot but, “it turns out they were roasting beans the whole time off of generators. They just had no way to get communication out,” said Erin. “Here they were still able to provide for us when really they were the ones in need. It was really cool.”…
