BENSON — As this financially troubled town looks for ways to save money, its generous employee benefits are squarely on the table.
At their Sept. 18 meeting, commissioners heard from interim Town Manager Steve Harrell, who reminded them that Benson is not alone in offering extras beyond base pay.
“We’re all aware that local governments offer employee benefits,” Harrell said. “It’s helpful for retention of current qualified employees, and it also is an attraction for future qualified employees.”…
