A wreck involving a trailer loaded with construction supplies shut down a section of Highway 211, south of Aberdeen, leaving a 50-foot debris field in the road on Friday afternoon just inside Hoke County.
According to witnesses, a passenger car and a truck were traveling in opposite directions. As they passed each other, the car crossed the double yellow line and struck a trailer being pulled by the truck.
The impact sheared off both axles and split the trailer open, spilling tools and debris. The Ford F-150 pulling the trailer was able to come to a stop beside the road. The car that struck the trailer came to rest in the road some distance away.
