Lumberton’s Lawson, Lady Pirates win at Tri-County cross country championship

MAXTON — The boys’ and girls’ Tri-County Conference Championships took place on Tuesday. Nathan Lawson of Lumberton took the crown in the boys’ race, finishing in 17 minutes, 8 seconds, while Zoe Dorsey of Terry Sanford finished in 20:47 to win the girls’ race.

Collin Shick of Cape Fear finished second with a time of 17:17. His brother, Christopher Shick, finished third, completing the race in 17:18. Nick Lawson, brother of Nathan Lawson, finished fourth in the boys’ race with a time of 17:33. Kayden Giles rounded out the top five with a time of 18:09.

Norah Johnson of Lumberton, the winner of the last girls’ meet, placed second, finishing in 22:04.99. Isabel Carrasco of Gray’s Creek was next to finish in 22:29. Lumberton’s Ariana Alford finished fourth with a time of 23:09. Finally, Cape Fear’s Amelia Osornio rounded out the top five with a time of 23:14…
