WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Ethan Newsome’s game-winning goal in the 87th minute capped a three-goal second half, fueled by Christian Acevedo’s first career brace, to propel the UNCW men’s soccer team over Campbell 3-2 in its home finale on Saturday night at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
The Seahawks improved to 3-3 in Coastal Athletic Association play and stand 4-6-2 overall ahead of a three-game road swing to conclude the regular season. The Fighting Camels fell to 3-1-2 in the league and are 7-4-4 overall.
Acevedo tied the game in a span of five minutes, roughly seven minutes after Campbell’s Marco Wright completed his own two-goal effort in the 51st minute after giving the Camels a 1-0 lead early in the first half.
