On October 24, 2025, Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kirk deViere led an emergency meeting in Fayetteville, North Carolina. A main concern is the possible delay or reduction of November SNAP (Food and Nutrition Services) benefits. More than 33,000 households in Cumberland County receive these benefits. The USDA has told states to pause November SNAP issuances while contingency funding is reviewed.
