William Cox of Stedman, North Carolina, won a $123,503 jackpot on Friday by playing the digital instant game The Lamp: Dark Arts. Cox spent $5 on the game and won the middle-level ‘Cadabra’ jackpot, which has odds of 1 in 6.4 million. He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Wednesday and received $88,615 after taxes.
Cox said he plans to use the money to pay bills and visit his grandchildren in Michigan. The Lamp: Dark Arts is a progressive jackpot game available online through the NC Lottery website and mobile app. Bets range from 50 cents to $30.
