A Fayetteville institution since 1962, this beloved diner is back under new ownership

A Fayetteville diner has taken over a location that has housed some of the city’s most memorable restaurants since 1962.

On Nov. 3, Hailey and Dillon Thompson opened Rooster’s Diner at 3291 Cumberland Road, in what was formerly known as Rooster’s Cafe.

Hailey, a Cape Fear High School graduate, and Dillon, an alum of Southview High School, have lived in Fayetteville their entire lives. The couple first entered food sales five years ago with their food truck, The Cavity Connection, which serves fried sweets, Dippin’ Dots and funnel cakes.
