Cumberland County Public Library in Fayetteville, North Carolina, has named Kia Love as its first Artist in Residence. Love is a textile artist who leads community workshops and creates public art installations. She was chosen through a selection process that included proposals and interviews by a community panel. The residency is part of the library’s new program, Creative Collaborations: Artist in Residence, which seeks to combine art with community involvement.
During her residency, Love will offer arts programs at all eight library branches. Her work will be featured in an exhibit called ‘Woven Connections.’ The exhibit will include tapestries, wall hangings, and interactive installations. These works will focus on community, connection, and creativity, and will reflect local stories and cultural heritage.
Love’s artistic practice includes sustainability and community participation. She plans to create art experiences that involve library visitors and encourage discussion…
