Man charged with burning occupied Food Lion near Fayetteville, deputies say

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was arrested on a felony charge after a fire burned the outside of Food Lion near Fayetteville on Tuesday morning, deputies said.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 8:20 a.m. to a report of an outside fire by the Food Lion Grocery Store of Legion Crossing in the 2800 block of Legion Road.

The initial investigation determined 40-year-old William Charles Crawford of Fayetteville ignited pants and pieces of cardboard against the Food Lion while it was open and occupied, according to the sheriff’s office…
