Child death investigation leads to drug bust in North Carolina

RAEFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — An investigation into the cause of death of a Hoke County child led to the arrest of two people on drug-related charges, according to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began Dec. 4, after an unresponsive child was brought to a local hospital and was pronounced dead by medical staff, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators with the sheriff’s office began a death investigation, and as part of that investigation, multiple agencies became involved in the case. The sheriff’s office said the child’s cause of death is still being determined at this time, with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner still needing to perform an examination…
