ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — A Red Springs man is facing a murder charge after stealing an ambulance and shooting a woman following a wreck, Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said.
On Saturday, paramedics were sent to the area of Chavis Road in Maxton for a medical emergency. While en route to the hospital, 36-year-old Cheyenne Woods brandished a firearm at two EMS workers and then stole the ambulance.
He was then involved in a collision with another vehicle. Following the wreck, Woods approached the vehicle and shot 74-year-old Marie Locklear. She was transported for medical treatment and died of her injuries.
