Home threatened in fire started by heat lamp

An early-morning fire threatened an occupied home Friday along McIntosh Road between Vass and Carthage, according to Cypress Pointe Department Chief Mike Cameron.

Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue and the North Carolina Forest Service were initially dispatched just after 4 a.m. to a reported outside fire. While units were en route, dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting the same incident and upgraded the response to a structure fire.

When Engine 211 arrived, crews reported an outside fire involving two small outbuildings, a pickup truck, and a lawn mower, with flames impinging on a nearby home…
