FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A Fayetteville fisherman is partnering with local businesses to tackle a growing trash problem along the Cape Fear River and is calling on the community to help.
Aaron Sweat, owner of Cumberland Marine and co-operator of Bottom Feeders Fishing Club, is organizing a river cleanup scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will work to remove trash along a stretch of the river from Interstate 295 to Lock and Dam 3, including the Old Wilmington Highway Boat Ramp, Deep Creek Outfitters, and nearby lock and dam areas.
