A Fayetteville man, Muwsay Ibn Ibrahim Tulu, was convicted on charges of drug possession and firearms violations on Fort Bragg military base. The U.S. Department of Justice reported that a federal jury in Wilmington found him guilty on all counts after the trial.
On July 13, 2023, military police found Tulu incapacitated behind the wheel of a running vehicle, with illegal drugs and a loaded firearm nearby. The drugs included fentanyl and cocaine, and the weapon was identified as a ghost gun, a firearm without a serial number. Tulu’s defense argued he was a user, not an armed distributor, but the jury reached a different conclusion.
