Rise in youth gun violence seen in this North Carolina city

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Gun violence in Fayetteville is trending downward overall, but a new study shows a troubling increase in young people being arrested for violent gun offenses, raising concerns among city leaders and community organizations.

Researchers with the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute presented their findings to the Fayetteville City Council, analyzing gun violence data from 2021 through 2024. While the total number of incidents has declined, the study makes clear that progress remains fragile, especially when it comes to supporting youth.
