Cumberland County deputy hits pedestrian in roadway

A pedestrian was injured after he was hit by a Cumberland County deputy on Wednesday.

The deputy was responding to a 911 call for a missing person in the 400 Block of Cabrini Court. While the deputy was traveling on Clinton Road near Blue Sand Hill Road, he struck a man walking in the roadway. The sheriff’s office said the man was wearing all dark clothing. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with what were described as minor injuries.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is actively investigating the collision.
