Fayetteville 911 operator awarded for handling call from teen accused of killing mom

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A Fayetteville 911 operator was recognized for “calm composure and decisive action” during an emergency call from a teenager later accused of fatally stabbing his mother earlier this month, police said Friday.

Isaac Tracy, 17, was charged as an adult with first-degree murder after his mother, Katharine Svaldi, 49, was killed on Feb. 10. The slain mother was found by Fayetteville officers inside a trash can in the garage of the family’s Daphne Circle home.

Telecommunicator Dilhara Edwards took the 911 call around 7 p.m. in which the young suspect told a dispatcher he “wanted to get himself arrested because he killed his mom.”…
