Cumberland County Schools faces a $5 million budget shortfall at the same time officials consider how to fund much-needed new school buildings.
The Cumberland County Board of Education’s finance committee received Superintendent Dr. Eric Bracy’s proposed budget for the next fiscal year during a Feb. 26 meeting.
The proposed budget totals $670.8 million, which would include money from local, state and federal funding sources.

Included in the recommendation is a request for a $6.54 million increase over what Cumberland County allocated for the current fiscal year, which would mean asking the county to spend a little more than $110.28 million for Cumberland County Schools…
