A woman sought in connection with a 2023 Fayetteville homicide was arrested in Columbus County this week, less than 24 hours after newly installed license plate readers first went online in Whiteville, according to officials.
On March 6, the Whiteville Police Department announced the arrest of Q’rana McKay, 23, saying the newly installed readers spotted a vehicle connected to McKay a day earlier. She had been sought since Jan. 12 when a Cumberland County grand jury indicted her as an accessory after the fact of murder in the killing of Garon Anthony Webb, 41, of Fayetteville, who was gunned down near his apartment on Tamarack Drive in October 2023.
The Whiteville Police Department said that after the plate reader spotted the vehicle, officers located it, then set up surveillance and ultimately arrested McKay. The court record indicates she lives in the Columbus County town of Chadbourne…
