Whataburger confirms ‘late spring’ opening in Southern Pines

It’s official: the new Southern Pines Whataburger plans to open its doors to the public in the coming months, with an opening of “late spring” recently confirmed. Though an exact date has not yet been pinned down, a Whataburger spokesperson told Sandhills Sentinel on Thursday that the burger chain will be opening soon enough, and that hiring will begin in April.

The restaurant will be located in the Morganton South Shopping Center, across from Target and near recently opened retail additions, including Starbucks and BJ’s Wholesale Club.

According to plans presented at a Southern Pines Town Council meeting in 2024, the restaurant will have 58 seats, a double drive-through, and will be open 24 hours…
