In Loving Memory of Anne Marie (Purdy) Gaskill

Anne Marie (Purdy) Gaskill, 82, died on February 20, 2026 at Carolina Inn Assisted Living in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was born on October 31, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan and adopted by George Flint and Anna May (Breidinger) Purdy. Anne was able to identify her birth parents and met her birth father and three half siblings in 2018.

Anne graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit, Michigan, class of 1961. Following graduation, she attended nursing school and became a licensed practical nurse. Anne married, settled in the Hillsdale, Michigan area and had five children. She retired early and traveled the United States by RV, eventually settling in Weeki Wachee, Florida. Anne was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Loyal Order of Moose, The Eagles Club, and a number or other organizations that served veterans. She loved flower gardening and cats.

Anne is preceded in death by her adoptive and birth parents, Arthur Fleming and Marguerite Winters, her brothers, Robert Purdy and Ed Fleming, and her eldest son, Thomas McNicholas. She is survived by her longtime partner, Barry Gaskill of Quincy, MI; her children, Joyce Guardado of Portage, MI; James (Kit) McNicholas of Fayetteville, NC; Brian McNicholas of Jackson MI; and Heather (Steve) Hodos of Hillsdale, MI; her siblings, Glenn Fleming and Patti Harrison: 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren…
