2 charged with concealment/failure to report death

PARKTON — Robeson County Sheriff’s Office investigators have charged a man in connection to a body that was located in a vehicle. Another suspect remains at large.

On March 13, deputies and investigators responded to the area of Dogwood Trails Road, outside of Parkton, in reference to a deceased male located inside a vehicle. The individual was identified as Zachary David Johnson, 36, of Fayetteville, formerly of Vancouver, Washington. The preliminary findings from the Medical Examiner’s Office indicate that Johnson’s death does not appear to be the result of a homicide and toxicology results remain pending at this time.

As a result of the investigation, Scott Vaughan, 45, of Raeford, has been charged with concealment/failure to report death. Vaughan received a $5,000 secured bond and was in the custody of the Robeson County Detention Center for unrelated offenses at the time of his arrest…
