Prioritizing three new elementary schools over a new E.E. Smith High School remains a sticking point for some Cumberland County Board of Education members, who say recommendations on consolidations and closures are being rushed.
The board’s auxiliary services committee met March 26 to review the staff-proposed timelines for school closures, including plans to hold hearings in May for Manchester and J.W. Coon elementaries and vote on those school closures and consolidations the same day.
