Latina Women Quietly Strengthening Fayetteville’s Community

A recent CityView column by Claudia Zamora celebrates the often unseen work of Latina women in Fayetteville and Cumberland County. The piece highlights three women — Valerie Adissi, a salon owner who creates a welcoming space for clients; Junia Cedano, a Spanish teacher at Alger B. Wilkins High School who fosters belonging in her classroom; and Carla West, a doula with Central Carolina Doulas who supports families through childbirth. Zamora’s column, part of CityView Magazine’s March 2026 “Women’s Issue,” honors how these women sustain their community through care, presence, and quiet leadership.
