Civil War Plantation Opens Tours Saturday

DUNN, N.C. – All are invited to step back in time through “Echoes of the Past — A Living History Experience” at the Oak Grove Plantation from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11. The plantation home was used as a field hospital for wounded Civil War soldiers when the Battle of Averasboro broke out around it in March of 1865.

Tours of the home, still etched by Civil War bullets and cannonballs, will be offered during the event, according to Lynn Lewis, wife of Oak Grove’s current owner Ronald Lewis. The historic Georgian-frame house stands at 8640 Burnett Road in the Dunn part of Cumberland County…
