AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – As Memorial Day marks the unofficial start to summer, game wardens are warning boaters on Clarks Hill Lake about safety hazards created by unusually low water levels.
The lake is averaging between 6 and 7 feet below normal, exposing hidden dangers beneath the surface.
“With the lake levels being as low as they are, which they’re averaging between 6 and 7 foot low, there are shoals and treetops that are just below the water’s edge that you can’t see while you’re driving the boat,” said Thomas Ledford, a game warden. “So it’s very important that people keep a good lookout, keep somebody spotting.”
