The Pittsburgh Pirates made it a productive Memorial Day at PNC Park.

Pittsburgh edged the Chicago Cubs 2-1 in a tightly contested pitching duel on a holiday afternoon. Carmen Mlodzinski started and worked five innings, allowing one earned run and striking out two before giving way to the bullpen. Wilber Dotel was the story in relief — three shutout innings, four strikeouts — earning the win. Gregory Soto slammed the door for the save.
