Backstreet Boys bring Sphere-sized nostalgia to BottleRock Napa Valley

The Backstreet Boys arrived at BottleRock Napa Valley dressed head to toe in white, moving in formation and singing like the late ’90s never ended.

Which, for a large portion of the crowd packed in front of the Prudential Stage on Sunday, May 24, was exactly the point.

Closing the final night of the Wine Country festival, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson delivered a slick, tightly choreographed headlining set that felt less like a standard festival appearance than a road-tested preview of their current Las Vegas spectacle. It was, in many ways, the Backstreet Boys’ Sphere show minus a few billion dollars’ worth of immersive screens, haptic seats and cosmic overkill…
